BACKGROUND: Hypoxia is a hallmark of solid tumors and is associated with metastases, therapeutic resistance and poor patient survival. RESULTS: In this study, we showed that hypoxia protected MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells against paclitaxel- but not epirubicin-induced apoptosis.
