Mutations in the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(+)-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase gene 2 (IDH2) have recently been found in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) as well as in patients with leukemic transformation of myeloproliferative neoplasms.
