Huntington disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disorder caused by an expanded CAG tract in the HD gene. Polyglutamine expansion of huntingtin (htt) results in early, progressive loss of medium spiny striatal neurons, as well as cortical neurons that project to the striatum.
