Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP-1) is an ubiquitous DNA-binding protein involved in the cellular response to various genotoxic agents. Excessive PARP-1 activation is known to lead to the depletion of intracellular NAD+ and ATP pools and hence to threat cell survival.
