Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inactivates dopamine in prefrontal cortex and is associated clinically with a schizophrenia endophenotype. Using an ethologically based approach, the phenotype of mice with heterozygous COMT deletion was characterised by decreased rearing with increased sifting and chewing.
