BACKGROUND/AIMS: The GNAS1 locus encodes the Galphas protein, which stimulates the formation of cyclo-adenosinemonophosphate (cAMP). The cAMP pathway mediates pleiotropic effects, including the regulation of apoptosis and proliferation.
