No single molecular mechanism accounts for the effect of mutations in rhodopsin associated with retinitis pigmentosa. Here we report on the specific effect of a Ca2+/recoverin upon phosphorylation of the autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa R135L rhodopsin mutant.
