Alpha-aminoadipic semialdehyde (AAS) and gamma-glutamic semialdehyde (GGS) are identified as the major carbonyl products in oxidized proteins. To elucidate the formation pathway of AAS and GGS in vivo, we developed and validated a new quantification method.
