Arylmalonate decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.76) catalyzes enantioselective decarboxylation of alpha-aryl-alpha-methylmalonates to give optically pure alpha-arylpropionates. Recently, we have succeeded in creating a double mutant enzyme that gave opposite enantionmer as the product.
