Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) content relative to nuclear DNA content as well as mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) content was measured in four hind-limb skeletal muscles, namely soleus (S), tibialis anterior (TA), gastrocnemius (G), and extensor digitorum longus (EDL) of adult rats.
