BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a common condition characterized by repetitive pharyngeal collapse during sleep and daytime sleepiness. There is genetic predisposition to sleep disorders. Serotonin is involved in the regulation of sleep.
