Adam33 is a putative asthma susceptibility gene encoding for a membrane-anchored metalloprotease belonging to the ADAM family. The ADAMs (a disintegrin and metalloprotease) are a family of glycoproteins implicated in cell-cell interactions, cell fusion, and cell signaling.
