NAD+-dependent 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (15-PGDH), a member of the short chain dehydrogenase/reductase (SDR) family, is responsible for the biological inactivation of prostaglandins. Sequence alignment within SDR coupled with molecular modeling analysis has suggested that Gln-15, Asp-36, and Trp-37 of 15-PGDH may determine the coenzyme specificity of this enzyme.
