We have applied the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and single-strand conformation polymorphism analysis (SSCP) to detect activating mutations in the Gs alpha subunit gene, amplifying genomic DNA extracted from growth hormone (GH)- and GH/prolactin (PRL)-secreting human pituitary tumors.
