Bax induces mitochondrial-dependent cell death signals in mammalian cells. However, the mechanism of how Bax is kept inactive has remained unclear. Yeast-based functional screening of Bax inhibitors from mammalian cDNA libraries identified Ku70 as a new Bax suppressor.
