The transcriptional repressor Fur binds to a 19-bp consensus sequence, 5'-GATAATGATAATCATTATC-3', under high iron conditions. The fepDGC-entS promoter of Escherichia coli contains two Fur-binding sites (FBS) offset by 6bp.
