Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)-activated protein kinase 2 (MK2) is activated upon stress by p38 MAPK alpha and -beta, which bind to a basic docking motif in the C terminus of MK2 and which subsequently phosphorylate its regulatory sites.
