Lymphoblastoid cell lines, generated by immortalization of normal B cells by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in vitro, have strong antigen-presenting capacity, are sensitive to EBV-specific cytotoxic T cells, and are highly allostimulatory in mixed lymphocyte culture.
