Parasite infections have long been associated with specific types of human cancers. Schistosoma hematobium is an inducer of urinary bladder cancer, Helicobacter pylori is a gastric carcinogen, and hepatitis B virus and Opisthorchis viverrini are causative agents of hepatocellular carcinoma.
