Parasite infections in humans have long been associated with specific types of cancers. Schistosoma hematobium is a known inducer of urinary bladder cancer, Helicobacter pylori is a gastric carcinogen, and hepatitis B virus and Opisthorchis viverrini are causative agents of liver cell cancers.
