The EcoRV DNA-(adenine-N6)-methyltransferase (MTase) recognizes GATATC sequences and modifies the first adenine residue within this site. Parts of its DNA interface show high sequence homology to DNA MTases of the dam family which recognize and modify GATC sequences.
