AIB1 (amplified in breast cancer 1) is a coactivator which stimulates the transcriptional activity of the liganded-estrogen receptor (ER). It has been reported that AIBI gene is amplified and overexpressed in some breast cancer cell lines. AIB1 contains a stretch of homopolymeric glutamines (poly-Q).
