Farnesylation of Ras is required for its transforming activity in human cancer and the reaction is catalysed by the enzyme farnesyltransferase. Recently, we discovered a novel chemical series of potent farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP) analogues which selectively inhibited farnesyltransferase.
