Abstract excerpt
Hyperhomocysteinemia, which results from renal impairment, may promote arteriosclerosis and glomerulosclerosis. The combined effect of renal failure and a common mutation (C677T) in the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene that leads to serum homocysteine elevations in dialysis patients was investigated.
