To investigate the underlying mechanism regulating cardiac gene expression, transgenic mice carrying the rat cardiac troponin T proximal promoter (-497 bp from the transcriptional start site) fused to a LacZ or chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) reporter gene were analyzed.
