In addition to the apolipoprotein E (ApoE) tri-allele polymorphism, genetic variants of the apolipoprotein E promoter (-491A/T) and the bleomycin hydrolase (BH-PEN) gene have also been proposed as genetic risk factors for Alzheimer's dementia (AD).
