Thymidylate synthase (TS) regulates the production of DNA synthesis precursors and is an important target of cancer chemotherapy. A tandem repeat sequence in a TS promoter enhancer region (TSER) was recently identified. Polymorphic variation affected in vitro expression levels of the gene.
