OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the possible association of three candidate gene polymorphisms with essential hypertension in the genetically homogeneous Sardinian population. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: We studied 494 unrelated, nondiabetic subjects, 213 (43.2%) with essential hypertension.
