<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> <h4>Rationale</h4> Hepcidin (HAMP) is a hormone produced primarily in the liver. It controls systemic iron homeostasis by inhibiting the iron exporter ferroportin (FPN) in the gut and spleen, respective sites of iron absorption and recycling.
