Background: Microvillus inclusion disease (MVID) is a life threatening enteropathy characterised by perpetual diarrhoea. Recent analysis has revealed that enterocytes in MVID patients exhibit reduction of microvilli, presence of microvillus inclusion bodies and intestinal villus atrophy.
