ATP-sensitive potassium (K ATP ) channels consist of an inwardly rectifying K + channel (Kir6.2) pore, to which four ATP-sensitive sulfonylurea receptor (SUR) domains are attached, thereby coupling K + permeation directly to the metabolic state of the cell.
