GARP2, a glutamic-acid-rich protein found exclusively in rod photoreceptors, has been suggested to function as a structural protein, a modulator of the cGMP phosphodiesterase enzyme (PDE6), and a gating inhibitor of the rod cGMP-gated cation channel.
