<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> <h4>Background</h4> Hnf4a is a major regulator of renal proximal tubule (PT) development. In humans, a mutation in HNF4A is associated with Fanconi renotubular syndrome (FRTS), which is caused by defective PT functions.
