Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGLs) are rare chromaffin cell-derived neuroendocrine tumors of sympathetic (catecholamine-producing) or parasympathetic (nonsecretory) origin, frequently driven by dysregulation of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) signaling, particularly HIF-2α.
