Malformations of cortical development (MCD) caused by variants in mTOR pathway genes (MPGs) are a leading cause of drug-resistant epilepsy. Characteristic histopathological features of MPG-associated MCD include cytomegaly and cortical dyslamination often with neurons in abnormally close apposition (aggregates).
