Breast cancers are often driven by mutations, alterations and activation of cell cycle regulatory proteins, including the retinoblastoma tumor suppressor protein (Rb), cyclin E and cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks), especially cyclin D:Cdk4/6 complexes.
