C766T, a polymorphism in exon 3 of the gene for the low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein (LRP), was found to be associated with late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD). We developed a PCR-restriction enzyme-based assay to analyze this allele in 234 AD patients and 103 controls. We confirmed that the LRP C766T polymorphism was in disequilibrium with AD--the C/C genotype was present in 76% of AD patients...
