The N-acetylation of arylamines and hydrazines used as drugs may alter their pharmacological or toxicological activity. Arylamine N-acetyltransferase (NATs) are involved in drug metabolism, as they catalyse the N-acetylation of arylamine and mono-substituted hydrazine substrates.
