Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) is believed to produce intracellular calcium (Ca2+i) transients by inositol trisphosphate (InsP3)-mediated release of intracellular Ca2+ stores followed by "capacitative" Ca2+ entry due to emptying of these stores.
