Animals with one deleted jerky allele are more susceptible to chemically induced seizures than wild-type mice and display recurrent behavioral seizures. The phenotype of these hemizygotes is characterized by no apparent neurological symptoms other than recurrent seizures reminiscent of human idiopathic epilepsy.
