To simplify the manual detection of STRs, we developed an immunoblotting method using an anti-thymine-dimer antibody. Upon ultraviolet irradiation, adjacent thymine residues in a DNA strand readily form thymine dimers which are detectable by anti-thymine-dimer antibody.
