BACKGROUND/AIMS: The kinetics of omeprazole and its primary metabolites 5'-hydroxyomeprazole and omeprazole sulfone were studied in healthy volunteers to evaluate omeprazole as a probe drug for the S-mephenytoin hydroxylase (CYP2C19) polymorphism.
