Five cassettes carrying uidA, encoding beta-glucuronidase, were made for the construction of insertion mutants with transcriptional fusions to uidA. Three uidA cassettes contain antibiotic-resistance genes, for chloramphenicol (Cm), for kanamycin (Km) and neomycin (Nm), or for streptomycin (Sm) and spectinomycin (Sp).
