Matrix Gla (gamma-carboxyglutamic acid) protein (MGP) is a vitamin-K-dependent extracellular matrix protein. A method was developed to quantitate MGP mRNA based on competitive polymerase chain reaction following reverse transcription (competitive RT-PCR).
