Inhibitory effects of five quinolones against DNA gyrases purified from four quinolone-resistant clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and the quinolone-susceptible strain PAO1 were examined. All of the quinolone-resistant strains tested were found to be DNA gyrase mutants.
