BACKGROUND: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) occurs in 20-50% of the people living with Type 2 diabetes (T2D) and is the leading cause of kidney failure worldwide. The cause of CKD is not fully understood, and few interventions prevent CKD in individuals living with diabetes.
