Children with Down syndrome (DS) frequently develop transient abnormal myelopoiesis that can evolve to the myeloid leukemia of DS (ML-DS). TAM spontaneously resolves in most cases but progresses to ML-DS with additional mutations, most commonly in the cohesin complex.
