Background: HLA-G is a non-classical HLA class I molecule that promotes transplant tolerance. It engages the inhibitory receptor LILRB1 on immune effector cells, suppressing cytotoxic responses and inflammation, while promoting tolerogenic and regulatory immune phenotypes.
