ABSTRACT: Thrombin is generated from prothrombin through cleavage at 2 sites by the enzyme prothrombinase, composed of factor Xa (fXa) and fVa. The affinity of fXa for fVa is low, with assembly and function dependent on phospholipid (PL) membranes.
