INTRODUCTION: The prognosis of pleomorphic carcinoma of the lung is poor with a propensity of metastasis and distant recurrence. The high intratumoral heterogeneity and variable morphologic composition of pleomorphic carcinomas lead to underdiagnosis in biopsy specimens from non-small cell carcinomas.
